Alberta Music Award

We had the honour of being asked to design and create the new Alberta Music Award, first presented in 2011.  The first recipients were Paul Brandt - Lifetime Achievement Award, Maryanne Gibson - Industry Builder Award, Hal Yerxa (posthumous) - Heritage Award, and Michael Bernard Fitzgerald - Emerging Artist Award.  It was our pleasure to contribute to recognizing and celebrating the talent and excellence produced by artists here in Alberta!  This design won an award at the 2012 International Awards & Recognition Association Convention in Las Vegas.

The Heritage

Once known as The Alberta Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards of Excellence, it has been resurrected as the Alberta Music Awards. The 2011 awards ceremony was the first under the new name.

The Concept

The new Alberta Music Award combines the classic with the modern, celebrating the music of the past and present, while anticipating the future.

The Inspiration

The award features a custom 3-dimensional cast pewter vintage microphone, honouring the award’s heritage and representing music of all genres.

The Design

  • The Alberta Music Awards (AMA) logo is branded in the centre of the microphone and is cut vertically along the front metal piece, allowing a glimpse of the marble behind it.
  • The black and grey Cordoba marble, imported from Turkey, is both elegant and timeless. The dark colors of the marble give the award contrast and complement the dark recesses of the microphone.
  • The offset peaks form an ‘M’ at the top.
  • The solid metal base and polished metal vertical bring brilliance and modernism to the award.
